Alan McDonnell’s career has spanned the retailing, banking and technology sectors in senior sales and marketing roles. He currently serves as non-executive director on a number of Irish boards including the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland where he also chairs the Audit & Risk Committee.
He undertook extensive post-graduate studies in corporate governance at University College Dublin and was invited to join the faculty which he served on for a number of years. In 2008 he formed his consultancy firm Good Governance Solutions which advises clients across public, private and NFP sectors.
Alan is a member of the Institute of Directors Ireland, the European Corporate Governance Institute and a founder of the Corporate Governance Association of Ireland. He is a Fellow and former national Chairman of The Marketing Institute. He sits on the Steering Group of the Irish Governance Code for the NFP sector and on the Technical Committee representing Ireland in the development of the ISO ‘Guidance for the Governance of Organizations’ scheduled for launch in 2020.
