Philip Armstrong

Philip Armstrong is an International Advisor on corporate governance and is currently an Independent Board Member of Hawkamah Institute for Corporate Governance together with other advisory roles globally.

He has worked extensively with governments, regulators and policy makers, institutions and organisations, companies and boards on issues of corporate governance in some 70 countries around the world. His wide depth of experience and expertise covers policies,standards,best practices and their implementation. Philip has extensive knowledge and experience of the inner workings of complex board room situations in both the private and public sectors.

Philip has held senior executive positions in a number of prominent companies and institutions around the world including Anglo American plc, a leading South African law firm, the International Finance Corporation where he headed the Global Corporate Governance Forum and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance among others. He has received a number of accolades internationally including an honorary doctorate in business administration from the Oxford Brookes University in the UK in recognition of his contributions to corporate governance in emerging markets.
