Richard Davies is Founder and Managing Director of RD:IR, an independent global Investor Relations & proxy solicitation consultancy, offering a wide range of IR-related analysis, research & advisory services to over 600 UK & international public companies.
RD:IR is committed to providing boards, senior management and IR professionals with the intelligence and insights to manage most efficiently their relationships with the capital markets. From tracking share ownership, to finding new investors across the globe and achieving the highest possible level of voting at shareholder meetings, RD:IR provides unique, unconflicted investor marketing & communication strategies.
After gaining an Honours Degree in German from Sussex University, Richard worked as a print journalist and television researcher before going into the City to develop and manage one of the first UK share analysis services. Building on his experience in stock analysis and related areas, Richard set up RD:IR in 2002 to offer full-service IR consultancy to UK and international companies, combining quantitative and qualitative research processes with insightful advisory skills.
As well as providing IR counsel, Richard has run many pioneering research projects across the global financial markets covering hedge funds, emerging markets, private equity, and financial service marketing processes.
Richard was chairman of the UK Investor Relations Society from 2009 to 2011 after acting as Deputy Chairman for the previous five years. Richard still contributes greatly to the Society’s education, events & social programme as member of the Events and Policy Committees. Richard helped set up and continues to act as Examiner for the Society’s Certificate in Investor Relations.
